Point Dedicated Services (Point) evolved from the Hare group of companies to better serve the transportation needs of shippers and has been in business for over 90 years. While Point encompasses three generations of leadership style, the company’s commitment to delivering superior customer service has never changed.

In 1926, Howard Hare founded Hare Cartage with just one truck. He obtained his first customer by demonstrating to the circulation manager of a city newspaper that he could deliver the newspaper faster and more reliably than the trains that the newspaper company was currently using. Through careful planning and diligence, the little “Hare” truck beat the locomotive and Howard Hare landed his first newspaper contract.

Howard’s son, Paul Hare, joined the company in 1943 and continued to provide the same quality of customer care and attention that Howard initiated. Under Paul Hare’s leadership, Hare Cartage launched Hare Leasing and Hare Express. Paul retired as President and CEO in 1994 and his son Ross Hare runs Hare Express and Hare Freight Services today.

In 1995, Ross Hare founded Point Dedicated Services to meet the customized transportation needs of shippers that emerged with the new trade agreements in the 90s. Point has grown largely on its ability to flawlessly execute the “Just in Time” concept of the automotive manufacturing arena.

While there have been many changes over the last 90 years, one thing remains constant and that is Point’s commitment to customer service.
